Firstfruits of Awakening in Israel During War
What we’re seeing now in Israel is like the blossoming of many new flowers after the heavy rains – God is bringing new life to His people through the Gospel!
By God’s grace, our evangelistic videos have been viewed millions of times in Israel, and several thousand Israelis have ordered New Testaments and evangelistic materials in order to learn more.
As the war continues, people are thinking about issues of life and death, and God has stirred many to order New Testaments and contact us on social media. We also sensed that the Lord wanted us to place a special emphasis on calling back those who had ordered materials even quite some time ago. We were quite amazed to see what God has done!
Just in the last two and a half weeks, we’ve spoken with seven new believers – several of them on fire for the Lord and even sharing the Gospel with others!
One Video Changed Everything
Shoshana, a young woman from the south of Israel, grew up in a secular environment and had a strong distaste for religion. But about a year ago, she was watching videos online and our video “The Great Jewish Leader” popped up. She told us, “I always just skip ads, but this was the first time I felt I should keep watching, so I watched all the way until the end.”
She saw something so beautiful and wonderful in Yeshua, she understood that He is the Messiah and the greatest Treasure, and she decided to dedicate her life to Him! She ordered books from us and began devouring the Word of God.
Then just a few days ago our team member Inbal was finally able to speak with her – apparently it was the first time in her life Shoshanna had ever spoken with another believer! Inbal said her jaw dropped when she realized how Shoshanna had such an in-depth knowledge of the Word – more than many mature believers – and was so passionate for the Lord and beginning to live out His Word! Praise God! Please pray for her and others who will be starting discipleship with us.
From Jewish Tradition to Proclaiming Jesus
Reuben, from an Orthodox-traditional Jewish background, has been in a process of research and growth for five years, ever since he saw an evangelistic video on TikTok. He reached the solid conclusion that Yeshua is Lord, and started sharing his faith constantly with people at work and elsewhere. But he’s struggling to do it on his own and to know how to answer difficult objections.
So besides ordering materials from us, he also asked for our help. Our team member Yoav called him right after Reuben had just spoken with his Orthodox Jewish boss about his new faith. Reuben was feeling a bit discouraged as he felt he hadn’t shared in the best way. So Yoav started encouraging him, and then he got his boss on the line and the three of them talked through the Gospel together!
And there are many more salvation stories – God is hearing your prayers and ours and beginning to pour out His Spirit in Israel!
What Samuel Said Broke My Heart
But we’re also feeling overwhelmed with the need. I started calling some of the people who ordered New Testaments two years ago, with whom we’d struggled to stay in touch because of a lack of manpower.
One of them was an older man named Samuel. He was in deep depression – he lost his daughter, went bankrupt, and was diagnosed with cancer. He said, “I just have no hope. I’m searching anywhere for someone who can help me in this impossible situation.”
I responded, “Samuel, you’re looking in the right place! Yeshua came precisely for people like you.” We read Isaiah 61 together about the Messiah’s mission to bring good news to the poor and healing for the brokenhearted. He was quite touched by that, and as he heard more, the Scriptures and the Gospel began filling his heart with hope.
Then what he said next broke my heart, “You know, after I ordered the New Testament two years ago, I spoke with you guys maybe two or three times. And then I actually wanted to visit a congregation and meet with believers, but I thought I’d wait until you would call again. Since you didn’t call, I didn’t go. But now I see I should go and see if this is real.”
The Greatest Harvest in 2,000 Years
Praise God that he was still willing to go and didn’t lose interest like some do. But we couldn’t help but think, “How many other “Samuels” are out there? And if we just had more workers who could continue following up with them, how many more salvations and new disciples would we see here in Israel?!”
We believe that the harvest is more plentiful here in Israel than it has been anytime in the last 2,000 years! Would you join us in praying that God would provide several new laborers and all the resources required for them so they can join our team in this harvest? Jesus has been longing for 2,000 years to gather the Jewish people to Himself like a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. Let’s pray that now would be the time that they’d be willing, that they’d come and find shelter in Him, and that more and more would cry out to Yeshua, Baruch haba b’Shem Adonai – “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord” (Matthew 23:37-39).
